The cost of creating the car is figured into the show’s budget beforehand, and the value of the finished product is very high. Can I submit my car for Overhaulin’? Overhaulin’ is no longer being filmed. We do not accept Overhaulin’ applications.
This year, the show will accept applications from folks outside of Southern California, which means that a GTO rusting in a Michigan shed even has a chance at glory. The catch: you can’t nominate yourself.

Sadly, after a few seasons, Janic went off to dip her toe into several projects, leaving poor Overhaulin’ to find another presenter.
The show’s hosts were automobile designer Chip Foose and co-host Chris Jacobs; the creator and producer was Bud Brutsman. Courtney Hansen was the co-host of the show until 2005, when she left the show to pursue other interests. She was replaced by Executive Producer Brutsman’s wife Adrienne Janic (“AJ”).
Since the cars actually were finished in just eight days, and the restorations were massive projects involving many, many people, the workers on the show got very little sleep. They often complained of sleep deprivation but the money was good enough to keep them working.
Foose is known for building custom cars and for his Velocity TV show “Overhaulin”. Foose is now celebrating 30 years in business. Wesley Kent shapes metal for a custom car at Foose Design. Chip Foose works with Josh Kamholz in his shop.
