PLANO, Texas (October 27, 2021) – With more horsepower and torque, a redesigned interior and exterior and a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of just $27,700, the all-new 2022 GR86 is priced to thrill.
Subaru BRZ is fun to drive, with slightly sharper handling than GT86. … The Subaru’s suspension is slightly stiffer at the front, which helps the car stay flatter through bends. The downside is a slightly firmer ride. Both cars are rather noisy at speed; they’re not as refined as an Audi TT.
In short, the GR 86 is the same size and shape as the old 86, but slightly more powerful. With the manual, Toyota claims the 2022 GR 86 will hit 60 in 6.1 seconds on the way to a 140-mph top speed; the auto is a half a second slower and runs out of revs 6 mph sooner.

The 2022 GR 86 will be powered by a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated, horizontally opposed four-cylinder boxer engine. The vehicle can be configured with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission.

We expect the first 2022 BRZ to arrive at Planet Subaru in October of 2021. It will be an all-new model, the first since 2013.
The new Toyota GR 86 will start at $28,725 with destination charges. Two trims will be available at launch: base and Premium. Toyota is also offering a number of Gazoo Racing accessories for the 86.

The 2020 Toyota 86 coupe is fast. It has a top speed of 140 mph off the production line. It can do 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds when equipped with the six-speed manual, which on par with the Subaru BRZ and faster than the Honda Civic Coupe.
Both the GR86 and GR Supra are joint projects. The difference is that the GR86 was co-developed with Subaru – a fellow Japanese carmaker, partially owned by Toyota, while the GR Supra is basically a redesigned BMW Z4 with a bespoke chassis setup.
