These models can hit 155 mph, whereas the standard 330i and 325i are speed-limited to 130 mph.
The fastest you will probably drive most of the time on the highways is 80-85 mph. In the city, you’ll go 45-50 mph. So a 325i will be plenty fast to accomplish those tasks.
The BMW 325i does not have a turbo.
I have a 2006 325i and reliability has not been a problem at all. Rare if any unscheduled maintenance, the engine has been running strong (albeit it’s only at 28k miles) and overall it’s still in great shape.
Altered intake systems that include a cold-air intake and an upgraded exhaust system allows your BMW more power by getting air in and out of the engine quicker, lowering the amount of wasted power. Depending on the model and year BMW you have, this procedure may need to be customized or slightly altered.
Absolute cheapest way to make a 328 faster is to trade it on a 335 – you can spend twice as much as the price difference on the 2 used cars and still have a slower car – anything short of a $7,000 turbo kit on a 328 won’t make much of a difference and in the end you would be much better spending the 7k on the trade up!

Although the BMW E90 325i and 328i are some of the most reliable BMWs, they’re not fault-proof. Like every other BMW engine made after 1990, the N52 came with VANOS. Essentially, this was BMW’s V-TEC equivalent, which modulated the engine’s valves for better fuel efficiency or more power.
The top speed of the 328i is an electronically limited 130 mph. The 335i is significantly faster to 60 mph, as it performs the highway-speed sprint in 5.1 seconds with the auto transmission or 5.4 seconds with the optional manual. The 335i shares the 328i’s 130-mph top speed.

2004 BMW 3 Series
2004 BMW 3 Series 325i Sedan.
The 325i was a variant of the E46 BMW 3 Series that was introduced for the 2001 model year. The 325i was offered in sedan and station wagon body styles, and was powered by BMW’s M54B25 engine. … A four wheel drive version known as the 325Xi was also offered.
To give a ballpark figure – if you are on a stock car, you could probably gain 10-15 horsepower from a dyno tune. However, if you are running on performance parts like exhaust and turbo, then 50 horsepower gain is possible – even more depending on your engine and what performance parts you equip.
However, a 40bhp increase is a 40% power bump on a car with 100bhp stock which you will most definitely notice, the car will feel like a rocket after, but this is only with a proper remap, not a ‘tuning box’, which as I said will do very little. Ebay kits just trick the car into running rich all of the time.

Generally, the 3 best bolt-on engine mods for the N52 are headers, the 330i 3-stage manifold, and a tune. These mods alone will likely put the N52 in the ballpark of 270-280 horsepower.
0-60 in about 6 seconds. If you get a manual transmission and use it at higher rpm, it’s a pretty quick car. As quick as super cars from about 15 years back, I think. I’ve had mine for four years and it’s still a blast.
Even though my tuned 335i was faster it felt nothing like the M3, M3 felt so much faster, maybe its the suspension or the chassis. Not only that it felt faster it also handled much much better and the steering feel is just amazing.
The 330i features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
Consequently, the 330i sedan is gone for 2007, replaced by the 335i sedan with the same 300-hp twin-turbocharged engine that powers the 335i coupe.
